GP Partners with The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program

Georgia Pacific

Since 1983, Georgia‐Pacific has not only participated in The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Adoption Program, but it’s currently the largest Atlanta participant for 2018 by adopting 575 kids and 100 seniors. The Angel Tree program provides gifts for those in need during the holidays, and in the last 10 years, GP employees have given over 8,000 gifts to families in the metro area.

The Angel Tree process starts well in advance of the holiday season with The Salvation Army receiving referrals for recipients from social service agencies and schools. Participants are then interviewed to verify that the family is truly in financial need. Their information is assigned to an Angel Tree tag with their desired Christmas gifts and personalized details—the age, clothing sizes etc.Employees from GP bring their holiday spirit to pick up a tag and return the suggested gifts for the Salvation Army to pick up and distribute. Handing out the gifts is the best part and most important part—it’s when these families can feel a sense of relief during what should be a season of joy.

We can’t thank our GP employees enough for opening their hearts and lighting up hundreds of faces each year for the holidays!
