Leslie Schworm

Name and position title:
Leslie Schworm - manager, internet marketing communications - building products

Education I have received:
Master of Science in Public Relations, American University

What I do at Georgia-Pacific:
My job is a combination of developing content and graphics for the building products web site, working on strategy with our business units to carry key marketing messages through the web site, tracking and analyzing Internet traffic and maintaining the Where-to-Buy dealer locator.

What I like about Georgia-Pacific:
Working at GP has expanded my horizons both from the ongoing learning process it takes to do my job and from the network of interesting colleagues I have found since starting here. Not a day goes by that I don't learn something or meet someone new. The job is challenging so it keeps me on my toes. And I believe that GP upholds strong ethical standards. This is very important to me. I like the company's value system.

Favorite GP Story:
My boss's boss decided we needed to create a web site to cross promote our building products line along with our sponsorship of the Grand Champions golf competition - and that we should add a related do-it-yourself project. So I got together with our display group and an applications specialist from Structural Panels. We designed a 12' x 6' indoor putting green with GP Plytanium® plywood and our lumber. We built it in the photo studio at headquarters so we could put together a step-by-step project plan for the web site. It turned out great and we auctioned it off for United Way.

How GP is helping my career:
This job has pushed me into a high visibility role with many talented co-workers. I was recognized with the GP Women of Achievement Award. I was also encouraged to test my ideas and help prepare business strategies for eMarketing.

My favorite food:
Pasta!

My favorite musical artist:
Gloria Estefan

My favorite sport:
Swimming

My favorite TV Show:
Law & Order (classic)

The person I'd most like to meet for dinner:

How I like to spend my spare time:
Gardening, cooking, socializing with friends, playing with my cats, trying out new software.
