2005 Catalyst Award
Georgia-Pacific was honored with the prestigious Catalyst Award by the leading U.S. nonprofit focused on women's issues. The award recognizes outstanding business initiatives that result in the career development and advancement of women.
Asian American Heritage Foundation 2005 Corporate Diversity Award
Georgia-Pacific received the Corporate Diversity Award from the Asian American Heritage Foundation at its 4th Annual Gala Dinner in celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage month. GP was awarded this honor for its consistent work with the Asian-American business community and its support of a variety of Asian-American organizations.
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve
2005 "Above and Beyond Award"
Georgia-Pacific was nominated by employees who serve in the Georgia National Guard and Reserve and received the ESGR "Above and Beyond Award" from the Georgia Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. This award honors those organizations that demonstrate outstanding service to our nation's defense through continuing support of our National Guard and Reserve Service Members and their Employers.
2004 and 2005 Top Military-Friendly Employers
G.I. Jobs magazine named Georgia-Pacific as one of the top "military-friendly" employers in the United States. In the country, GP ranked 12th in 2005 and 11th in 2004 based on the strength of company military recruiting efforts, the percentage of new hires with prior military service, and company policies toward National Guard and reserve service.
Corporation of the Year
In 2004, Georgia-Pacific was named the Corporation of the Year by the Atlanta Chapter of the National Society of Hispanic MBAs.
2002 and 2004 Best Places for Blacks to Work
The October 2002 and 2004 issues of Atlanta Tribune: The Magazine names Georgia-Pacific one of the "Best Places for Blacks to Work." The information is based on survey results conducted on large Atlanta companies' disclosure of ethnic employee data in the prior year.
Buyer of the Year
Georgia-Pacific increased its expenditures with women-owned businesses by 10 percent in 2003, leading to recognition from the Georgia Women's Business Council. GP's Manager of Supplier Diversity was awarded Buyer of the Year.
The award is granted to a corporate representative who has increased corporate annual spending with women-owned business enterprises. The Georgia Women's Business Council is the regional partner of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council, an advocate of women-owned businesses as suppliers to America's corporations.
Commitment to Mentoring
Georgia 100® awarded Georgia-Pacific its Commitment to Mentoring Award in the fall of 2002. The award recognizes the participation of GP senior executives in the Georgia 100 program. GP consistently invests in the program with mentors and mentees and has supported the program since 1995, as a launching sponsor. This program is an external program for executives in Georgia companies to mentor senior women.
