Georgia-Pacific Acquires Facilities In Jundiaí And Belém

ATLANTA, GA. November 03, 2003 -- Georgia-Pacific Resins, Inc. – a subsidiary of U.S.-based Georgia-Pacific Corp. – today announced that it has completed the acquisition of two resin manufacturing plants in Brazil from Atofina, the chemical branch of the TOTAL group based in Paris.

The facilities, located in Jundiaí and Belém, produce thermosetting resins used in making abrasives, friction materials, thermal insulation, wood bonding adhesives and many other industrial products. The Jundiaí plant, in the state of Saõ Paulo, has 63 employees. The Belém plant, located in the state of Para, has 16 employees.

“These plants are significant additions to our South American operations, and to our entire division,” said Mario Concha, president -- Georgia-Pacific Resins. “Our operations in Chile and Argentina have been very successful in meeting the needs of our wood products related customers. This expansion will allow us to continue this level of service within Brazil and to expand our position to industrial resins, which are big markets in Brazil. The new plants have a history of quality and consistent products, and will be excellent platforms for us to build upon as we grow the business.”
