Georgia-Pacific Resins, Inc. Announces New Resin Pastilles
ATLANTA, Georgia. November 19, 1998 -- The industrial resins group of Georgia-Pacific Resins, Inc. (GPRI) is now offering its phenolic novolac resins in pastille form. The product is made at GPRI's Lufkin, Texas, facility via a new pastillator that delivers the resin in small, round droplet form.
Jim Silverwood, GPRI's Business Manager - Industrial Resins, stated that GPRI has provided resins to the foundry industry in flake form for years. "Offering our customers the additional option of a pastille form is another way in which GPRI adds value to our customers' products," said Silverwood. Market Manager Joe Prusaczyk noted that pastilles offer numerous benefits over flakes, including easier handling, less dust, more compact storage with less sintering, greater product consistency and improved performance, and cost savings. According to Prusaczyk, working with the relatively dust-free pastilles enables foundry workers to enjoy a cleaner working environment. In addition, pastilles have less tendency to sinter during storage, resulting in less product waste. "Improved resin handling, less dust and sintering, increased density, and uniform sand coating result in cost savings to our customers," said Prusczyk.
