Georgia-Pacific Introduces Tall Oil Derivative Product Lines
Polyol Esters and DEA-Free Amides Target Lubricant Additives Industry

ATLANTA, Georgia. May 18, 1998 -- The pulp chemicals group of Georgia-Pacific Resins, Inc. (GPRI) is introducing two new lines of tall oil derivative products to the lubricant additives industry. XTOLUBE™ tall oil fatty acid-based polyol esters are offered as lubricity additives in metalworking fluids and as base stocks for hydraulic fluid formulations. XTAMIDE™ DEA-Free tall oil fatty amides are designed as corrosion inhibitors and lubricity additives for metalworking fluids. Both provide excellent lubricity and are derived from a renewable resource - crude tall oil.

Georgia-Pacific is the leading producer of crude tall oil in the United States. The company's state-of-the-art tall oil fractionation plant in Crossett, Arkansas, was expanded last year. As a result of the expansion, the facility's tall oil fractionation capacity increased to more than 110,000 tons per year.

Charles W. Morris, general manager - paper & pulp chemicals, said the new derivatives product lines are another example of the company's ability to produce higher quality products at a lower cost by utilizing their large internal crude tall oil supply.

Georgia-Pacific Resins, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Georgia-Pacific Corporation. GPRI is a market leader in chemical products for the paper and pulp and building products industries, as well as other industrial manufacturing processes. GPRI operates twenty manufacturing and three research and development facilities throughout the United States.
