NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana. May 04, 1998 -- The paper chemicals group of Georgia-Pacific Resins, Inc. (GPRI) introduced a new product line to the boxboard coatings industry at the TAPPI Coating/Papermakers trade fair held this week at the Sheraton Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Boxboard coated with GPRI's new NovaCote PC 3050 waxable white coating was on display in the company's booth, #510. The boxboard coating product line also includes NovaCote PC 3030 - a high-gloss coating for graphic arts linerboard.
Both products were highlighted on May 5, 1998, during the 4:10 p.m. session of TAPPI's New Technology Showcase II in Pontchartrain Ballroom B.
Presenter and GPRI Product Manager Kip Albers explained that the boxboard coatings provide excellent printability with minimal tracking or smearing. In addition, the coatings demonstrate excellent hot melt and water-based adhesive gluability.
"The coatings are also cost-effective," said Albers. "Since the coatings retain a high level of their original brightness after wax cascading, the boxboard manufacturer can reduce coating weight costs."
