Georgia-Pacific Introduces New Lubricant Additives
New Actralube™ Water-soluble Products Recommended for Aluminum Machining

NEW YORK, NY. April 25, 2003 -- The pine chemicals group of Georgia-Pacific Resins, Inc. (GPRI) introduces four new additions to its Actralube™ lubricant additives product line at the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) show in New York City. All of the products are water-soluble and low foaming, and are recommended for aluminum machining.

Two of the new products, Actralube PS 6000 and Actralube HD 6000, are naturally-derived polymeric lubricity additives. The other two, Actralube SYN-620 and Actralube SYN-623, are proprietary synthetic esters.

According to Mike Bruner, GPRI pine chemicals technical service manager, while these products were developed for aluminum machining, they are also effective for ferrous machining applications, making this new line of water-soluble lubricants an excellent choice for applications where both aluminum and ferrous lubricity are required. “The new Actralube products are a direct result of our continual commitment to develop innovative performance chemicals that add value to our metalworking customers’ products,” said Bruner.

The GPRI pine chemicals group offers a comprehensive line of tall oil products derived from crude tall oil, a co-product of the kraft pulping process. The products are used in a wide range of applications, including papermaking, metalworking fluids, coatings, inks, adhesives, oil field, rubber production, and mining chemicals. GPRI’s 1999 acquisition of Actrachem LP, a Chicago-based manufacturer of optimally formulated metalworking additives, significantly enhanced its offerings to the metalworking and lubricant markets, including sulfated oils, amides, corrosion inhibitors, specialty esters, emulsifier bases, and lube additives.

Georgia-Pacific Resins, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Georgia-Pacific Corp. GPRI is a market leader in chemical products for the paper and pulp and building products industries, as well as other industrial manufacturing processes. GPRI operates sixteen manufacturing facilities throughout the United States. The company's web site address is www.gp.com/chemical.
