NEW YORK, NY. April 25, 2003 -- The pine chemicals group of Georgia-Pacific Resins, Inc. (GPRI) is highlighting a new addition to its Actrabase™ emulsifier product line at the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) show in New York City. Actrabase PS 450 natural petroleum sulfonate has a medium molecular weight, ensuring good emulsifying, blending, and corrosion protection properties.
According to Mike Bruner, GPRI pine chemicals technical service manager, Actrabase PS 450 will allow GPRI to expand the company’s supply of natural petroleum sulfonates to the metalworking industry. “The addition of this new Actrabase product is a direct result of our continual commitment to be a reliable metalworking additive supplier,” said Bruner.
The GPRI pine chemicals group offers a comprehensive line of tall oil products derived from crude tall oil, a co-product of the kraft pulping process. The products are used in a wide range of applications, including papermaking, metalworking fluids, coatings, inks, adhesives, oil field, rubber production, and mining chemicals. GPRI’s 1999 acquisition of Actrachem LP, a Chicago-based manufacturer of optimally formulated metalworking additives, significantly enhanced its offerings to the metalworking and lubricant markets, including sulfated oils, amides, corrosion inhibitors, specialty esters, emulsifier bases, and lube additives.
